Last Wednesday we had our first focus group meeting. We have to again, express our sincerest gratitude for all the parents and kids who could make it, we hope you enjoyed the time as much as we did! If you weren't able to make it, here’s a brief recap!
After a bit of game & pizza time, we had community discussion about video games and their relationship with your child. One of the highlights we particularly took note of was the lack of infrastructure for kids in middle or high school where they can meet other kids with the same interests. Some of our past campers have even gone on to make their own small gaming communities in their respective schools by starting their own clubs, but it’s not as easy as it looks. Hopefully we can help create a space for gamers to meet and help them and their clubs grow!
And if video game summer camps aren’t enough for your child, we also gave a little insight about our plans after the summer! Maybe your child is interested in high school competitive sports but without the sports part. Maybe they want to learn how to be a YouTuber or Streamer, or compete in a tournament. We might have something for them…
Hopefully you’ll stay tuned while we roll our Rec Leagues, Workshops, and other Ukatsu Events this year! Also, we’ll post our past meeting agendas on our facebook page as well as future meeting minutes. Our next meeting will cover Internet Safety and be April 19th at 6:30 PM.
Moving forward, there’s a busy week ahead! We can’t wait to meet with the gaming club at Gentry Middle School this week to talk about the gaming industry and play some games! We hope to reach out to all the schools in town and take the time to bring these communities together. Also, we are getting ready for the Columbia College Midwest Clash on April 8th! We’ll have more details about where to go and meet if you’d like us to chaperone your child closer to the date. Busy week ahead, but we can’t wait to get to it!
